ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSES
Planning Procedures
- The Library staff will meet regularly to plan and evaluate the services of the Library.
- The Dean of Libraries will serve as a channel of communication concerning Library operations and will act as the conduit for information to and from other campus offices.
- Each year in March, the Dean, in consultation with the Library staff, will develop the goals for the coming year and project goals for the future.
- Each year in May, the Library staff will conduct a year-end review and thorough evaluation of services and programs with particular attention to evaluation of the previous year’s goals.
- The Dean will prepare proposed operating and capital needs budget in October and will submit these to the Provost.
Library Goals
Each year the updated goals will be formulated and submitted by the Dean of Libraries to the Academics department as part of the University-wide Institutional Effectiveness evaluation and planning process. These goals should be time and task specific so as to facilitate measurement during evaluation.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES
The Library participates, along with other administrative units, in campus-wide assessment programs. The Library’s efforts at assessment focus on three critical areas: collections, access and services. These assessments will be evaluated regularly and systematically using the following methods:
- Users will be surveyed annually during the spring semester to ascertain their opinions concerning the Library.
- Statistical analysis will be performed annually on a full range of quantifiable data.
- Collections will be regularly evaluated using current methods.
- Information obtained for assessment purposes will be used by the Dean of Libraries in the planning process and will be submitted to the Academic department.
