Helpful Editing Resources

Owl at Purdue- This site offers clear examples of formatting and citations for MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian styles.

Typely- Want some help catching grammar usage errors? Try Typely, a free online grammar checker. Be aware that the site does not claim to catch all spelling errors, so you’ll still need to proofread.

Grammarly- Another grammar checker, this downloadable AIpowered app checks for grammar usage errors, spelling, plagiarism, tone, and more. Like Typely, it’s also free.

BibMe- This is a free automatic citation creator that supports MLA, APA, and Chicago formatting, utilizing auto-fill features for the creation of bibliographies or works cited pages. Some advanced features require a subscription.

Citation Machine- This site is a citation creator very similar to BibMe which uses a streamlined 3-step process and auto-fill features to generate citations in MLA, APA, and Chicago styles. As with BibMe, some advanced features require a subscription.

You’ve worked hard and written your senior seminar paper or completed your project. While this is a monumental task to check off your to do list, it’s still not quite finished. You’ll need to edit, proofread, and correct formatting & citation errors. Many people find it difficult to adequately critique their own work, so we’ve compiled some helpful links.
